Manifesting : How to Set Intentions That Actually Stick (Mindset, Energy & Action)

Manifestation blog hero image with affirmations about aligned action and identity shift

“Ask & you shall receive.”

“I am Manifesting my dream life!”.

“I can create and manifest anything I want into my life.”

We hear this everywhere these days  don’t we? The word Manifest sounds so magical, so easy to do. But what happens when the things we’re manifesting don’t come to fruition? The weeks, months or even years of waiting causes us to lose hope and feel depleted.

We were told: set the intention, put it out to the Universe, trust, stay positive and it will come.

So when nothing happens, when we’re waiting and trusting and forcing ourselves to stay optimistic, it starts to feel frustrating… even defeating.

I feel you. I’ve been there.

And no, it doesn’t mean you’re doing something wrong or that manifestation doesn’t work.

It means we’ve misunderstood what it actually requires for those manifestations to present itself into the 3D.

For manifestation to work — to bring the life you’ve visualised into the 3D, your intentions must feel believable

Realistic enough for you to believe in them.

When intentions feel too far removed from where you are, your thoughts and emotions start to fight each other. And manifestation doesn’t work when there’s internal resistance.

Your thoughts, emotions, and actions all needs to be aligned.

Start by manifesting something realistic, small enough for you to believe and not feel the lack of it. Something your nervous system can trust.

From there, you expand — because as human beings, our confidence is built through evidence, not fantasy.

What many people don’t realise is that we are manifesting all the time. Good or bad, wanted or unwanted.

Our thoughts create our reality — both consciously and unconsciously.

When thoughts are paired with emotion (whether joy, hope, fear, or anxiety), they carry energetic charge. The stronger the emotion, the stronger the attraction.

That energy draws in opportunities, situations, and lessons that move us toward or away from what we’re focusing on.

This is where action comes in.

You are required to grab those opportunities and take action on it.

Now, let me just say here, it will never always show up in a way that leads you directly to what you are manifesting as it usually comes in a sequence through someone even. Taking one step to another, and that is also cause the Universe / God (whatever you may believe in), is preparing you for it by having you equip yourself with the skills and knowledge before you finally receive what you are asking for.

If they present it to you right away, you may not know how to handle it or sustain it in your life. And another thing is, sometimes it also requires you to take actions which requires you to step out of your comfort zone. Again this is part of growth, preparation to being in alignment to the life you desire and meant for.

Whatever shows up for you, is for you. Good or bad. It is for meant for you to learn and grow.

It is all part of your journey.

Another reason manifestations don’t work is attachment.

Attachment to how something should happen.

To when it should arrive.

To what it should look like.

You’re putting too much focus on it.

Our role is to:

• set the intention

• align internally

• take aligned action

• and then detach from the outcome

Detachment isn’t giving up — it’s trusting without control.

Now let’s dive into it more and dissect it all.

Why Intentions Fail When They’re Just Words

An intention isn’t a wish.

And it’s definitely not a demand.

Most intentions fail because they’re created from:

• pressure

• impatience

• comparison

• or a desire to escape the present moment

When an intention is rooted in lack — “I want this because I don’t have it” — the nervous system stays in survival mode. You may feel motivated at first, but the energy isn’t sustainable. Eventually, you burn out, lose trust, or feel like you’re doing something wrong.

That’s not alignment. That’s forcing.

Energy Check-In: What Are You Actually Carrying?

Here’s a little exercise you can do right now especially if you have been finding difficulties with manifesting what you want.

Before setting any intention, pause and ask yourself:

• How do I actually feel right now?

• Am I exhausted, hopeful, guarded, anxious, open?

• What part of me wants this intention — fear or clarity?

This step matters more than people realise.

You can’t manifest peace while ignoring exhaustion.

You can’t manifest love while bypassing grief.

You can’t manifest expansion if your system is asking for rest.

Alignment begins with honesty, not optimism.

A Grounded Way to Set Intentions That Stick

Instead of setting outcome-based intentions, try this:

Set identity-based intentions.

Rather than:

“I intend to make more money.”

Try:

“I intend to become someone who consistently shows up for opportunities that support my stability.”

Rather than:

“I intend to find love.”

Try:

“I intend to choose actions that honour my self-worth and emotional availability.”

This shifts manifestation from wanting to becoming.

Your intention becomes something you can practice — not something you wait for.

The Missing Piece: Aligned Action

An intention without action is just a thought.

Aligned action doesn’t mean doing everything at once. It means choosing one small step that reinforces the identity you’re claiming.

Ask yourself:

• What is one action I can take this week that supports this intention?

• Does this action feel supportive, not punishing?

• Can I repeat this, even on low-energy days?

Consistency builds trust with yourself, and with life.

If Nothing Is Moving Yet, That Doesn’t Mean You’re Failing

Sometimes intentions don’t produce immediate results because they’re working internally first.

You may be:

• releasing old patterns

• stabilising emotionally

• building capacity

• learning discernment

Those shifts count.

Manifestation isn’t about speed.

It’s about integration.

Plant the seeds, then walk away from the outcome.

Align yourself, and let it grow.

Don’t sit there watching and waiting — life is still happening.

Don’t let those opportunities pass you by!

Before we end, I want to invite you into this.

Try creating your own affirmations today, come up with a few that you would actually feel confident saying it from your heart and you are able to feel those emotions.

Say them when you wake up.

Repeat them on your way to work or school.

Whisper them before you sleep.

I would love to hear your affirmations. Share them in the comments — not just to inspire others, but to declare them boldly. When you say something out loud, when you write it publicly, you’re no longer hiding your intentions. You are owning them.

And if you’re ready to go deeper, I’ll be releasing a FREE 7-Day Manifestation Journal this month to help you align your mindset, energy and action. Make sure you’re subscribed so you don’t miss it!

Affirmations :

I set intentions I can honour, actions I can sustain and goals that respect my nervous system.

I am open to receiving. I am aligned. I deserve abundance flowing through in all  areas of my life.

I don’t chase, I attract

Stay aligned, not attached 🤍
